Mabel Mnensa is a South African writer and storyteller whose work celebrates identity, imagination, and African heritage. Born in Johannesburg to Malawian parents, she grew up surrounded by rich oral storytelling traditions that continue to inspire her writing. She holds an MA in English Literature from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and an MA in Creative Writing from University College Dublin. Mabel is the author of the acclaimed children’s book Kantiga Finds the Perfect Name, as well as several short stories and commissioned works, including a story for Nal’ibali’s World Read Aloud Day campaign. Passionate about representation in children’s literature, she creates stories that help young readers see themselves reflected on the page while opening doors to new worlds and realities
