An author and illustrator deeply inspired by South Africa’s people, landscapes, and wildlife, she views children as complex, capable individuals who can easily sense authenticity. Though not born in South Africa, it is her home and the source of much of her creative inspiration. Her books often reflect the real challenges faced by many South African children, handled with honesty and respect rather than sentimentality. Constantly exploring new creative ground, she enjoys blending genres, experimenting with hybrid illustration techniques, and addressing difficult subjects. In recent years, she has also returned to painting and exhibiting her artwork, finding renewed expression through both visual art and poetry.
